Case5462_Phase 2 Swan Park, Dawlish

To consider an email received by the Town Clerk regarding the Street naming at Phase 2 Swan Park and to prepare a response.

Date: Wednesday, 12 July 2023 at 13:40
To: TownClerk <townclerk@dawlish.gov.uk>
Subject: Case5462_Phase 2 Swan Park, Dawlish

To Andrew

I have received an application to name and number the above new development which consists of 87 residential dwellings to Phase 2.

The developer has suggested to continue with a duck theme and from the list provided only two meet the Street Naming and Numbering criteria, please see below for consideration:

Aylesbury
Maya

However, I have estimated that 4 new street names along with an additional  2-3 names, in case there are duplicates, are required for the naming of the site.

Therefore, I would be grateful if Dawlish Town Council could provide alternative names or additional names to the duck theme for this site.

Under our policy, the Town Council has up to 21 days in which to respond. Could you therefore get back to me by 7th August 2023.  Please could you let me know if there is any difficulty in meeting this deadline.

According to our policy, names should ideally reflect local history or be in some way relevant to the area. New street names must fit with our Street Naming and Numbering policy which can be found on our website: www.teignbridge.gov.uk/address (a copy of our naming conventions policy has been attached).

The old Parish Tithe maps and Tithe Apportionment Transcription may be a use for you – DCC Link: https://new.devon.gov.uk/historicenvironment/tithe-map/

Should you wish to discuss this in more detail, please call me on telephone number: 01626 215128.

Kind Regards

for Street Naming and Numbering

Minutes:

The Chairman proposed that agenda item 22 be brought forward and taken before item 8 to ensure the item was considered at this meeting as the deadline was on the 7th August.

Resolved to take agenda item 22 before agenda item 8.

The Committee considered duck themed street names.

Resolved to submit the following duck names to the street name and numbering department, leaving the suffix open ended between Way/ Walk and Road; Eider, Scoter, Golden Eye, Mallard, Mandarin, Wigeon, Tufted Duck, Pintail and Gadwell.
