Members considered the minutes of the Manor House & Riverside Centre Committee held on 12 July 2023.

 

Resolved that the minutes of the Manor House & Riverside Centre Committee held on 12 July 2023 be approved and signed as a correct and accurate record.

31.

Town Clerk's Report

To receive and note a report from the Town Clerk (if any).

Minutes:

The Town Clerk confirmed that all outstanding minor works, including the bench on the patio, and grate for the air vent had now been completed.

 

Resolved that the update be noted.

 

32.

Dry Rot Remedial Works

To receive and note an update on the dry rot remedial works.

Minutes:

The Town Clerk advised that works were nearing completion in room 4B, and it was hoped that town council staff would return to the office from Monday, 18 September.

 

Remaining works were mostly painting, decorating, and touching up in other areas.  Members would be asked to confirm carpet tile choices at Committee once received.

 

Resolved that the update be noted.

 

 

33.

Town Clerk's Office

To receive and note an update regards the ceiling in the Town Clerk’s office.

Minutes:

The Town Clerk had received options for the ceiling in the Clerk’s office from the Council’s surveyor.

 

These were:

 

·         Option 1 – replace on like for like basis with lath and plaster and decorate,

·         Option 2 – replace with plasterboard on the basis that works were de minimis, with a like-for-like decorative finish installed,

·         Option 3 – replace with lath and plaster and apply for listed building consent and install temporary plasterboard ceiling in the interim whilst decision was being determined.

 

During discussion the Committee was clear that it wished to see a like-for-like decorative finish to the ceiling, and that the use of plasterboard be explored further given it was likely to provide better fire protection, insulation, and reduced weight to the ceiling.

 

Resolved that option 2 be investigated.

 

 

 

34.

Manor Grounds Signage

To consider ‘dogs on leads’ signage within the Manor Grounds request.

Minutes:

Members considered the permissibility of placing a Teignbridge Public Spaces Protection Order at the entrances to the Manor grounds in relation for the need for dogs to be on leads in the area.

 

Following discussion, it was

 

Resolved that the Town Clerk make a request from Teignbridge to place a Public Spaces Protection Order at the entrances to the Manor grounds.  Were this not to be acceptable, the Town Clerk to design, order and install signs to similar effect.
