The remit of the Skate Park Task and Finish Group is:
• Seek Teignbridge District Council’s advice on extending the current site or having a new location for the park; • Undertake public engagement and consultation for the future development/refurbishment of the skatepark; • To return to the Town Council with options to inform the tender process for works; and • To complete the group’s work by March 2024 at the latest.
Minutes: Discussion focussed on: · Scoping out with the District Council what might be possible and engaging in informal consultation to being with. · Users included those travelling from beyond Dawlish to the park – Exmouth, Paignton etc. · Safety and maintenance costs. · Different types of skate parks for different ages and abilities. · Whether the park could/should be moved for greater visibility. · Changing demography of the parish. · Need for CCTV to be included in proposals.
RESOLVED: that a preliminary site visit should take place and the portfolio holder for Sport, Recreation and Tourism at Teignbridge District Council be invited to the visit. |
